Johnson South Reef is a reinforced, "fort-like structure" that the Chinese have built above the above the high tide mark at Johnson South Reef. This station houses troops and sailors despite China's emphatic denial that the only occupants are Chinese civilians monitoring the weather and performing various scientific and administrative duties.
